Due to a problem with Java updates I had to uninstall the said program. I downloaded what I thought was a 64 bit version from their site, but now in the control panel beside the Java emblem it reads (32-bit) How do I tell if I mistakenly downloadedthe 32 bit version or the 64 bit one? I have both the 32 and 64 bit versions of IE on my machine, but have both program versions toggled off so they won't boot. I use Google Chrome as my browser and Hotmail for e-mail. (Looking at the files they all seem correctto me as both 32 and 64 bit) Any help would be greatly appreciated. I realize this question has been answered, but here's some additional info for future visitors:.
Go to the command prompt. Type 'java -version' and press enter. If you are running Java 64-bit the output should include '64-Bit'Keep in mind that you may have multiple versions of Java installed on your system. I have 3, e.g.:.
C:Program Files (x86)Javajre7binjava. C:Program FilesJavajre7binjava.
C:Program FilesJavajdk1.7.051binSo while my default version of Java is 32-bit, I also have a 64-bit version of Java installed.
