Oh geez where to begin. This seems to just be another POSKY aircraft except a payware version. The flaps when they're extended just lag after lag after lag. To fix this i had to readjust the flaps extending time in the cgf. File to make the flaps extend out smoother. The landing gears are the same way. The just plain silly part is that CLS tries to add realism by including the jet engine heat blast effect.
They simply added in a transparent revolving film around the back of the engines to look like heat mirages but in all honest it looks like a barber shop sign they way it just turns round' like a coil. The VC cocpit isnt any better than the default FSX A321 and its quite blurry even with maxed out settings. THe major plus however are the high quality textured liveries.
CLS had a LONG way to go to match up to other designers though. A bit too pricey.Other Reviews by me:CLS A330/A340 XJust Flights World Airports XAerosoft Ayers Rock XREX4 + Overdrive XFlytampa Maarten XFlytampa Hong Kong X. I first thought this was a rehash of Overland's Airbus series which can be bought right here at Simmarket. What I found is totally different. This package is nothing short of outstanding.
The VC seems to have been seriously enhanced putting this add-on right up there with the best VC around. You have cockpit glass simulated, everything is retextured from the seats to the walls, and the overhead panel among other things is fully clickable. Performance is outstanding in FS9 (I can't speak for FSX). The autopilot is correctly simulated to Airbus specifications so there's no rehash of the default operation here. You will have to add the Airbus callouts which is available for free on Flightsim.com. The Overland package is more of a 'lite' offering which is what I thought this was yet this model is very much in between hardcore and moderate.
The FDE is much improved and has the correct feel for a heavy aircraft of this type. The sounds are nothing short of the best around. A good example is you can hear the differences in the engine types in the cockpit.
The sounds put you in the cockpit instead of in the passenger seat. The 4 engine A340's cockpit sits farther forward from the engines than the A330 and you can tell the difference from the sound set. Night lighting is great although I wish CLS would start modeling dome lighting.
All in all a very outstanding product (trust me the screenshots don't do this product justice). For the money, this is an excellent scenery package if you're flying a lot around Los Angeles or San Diego. The map provided with the screenshots here is accurate to the coverage area - from Santa Maria in the NW to the Arizona and Mexican borders on the other corner. Note that this is only photoscenery and the associated autogen, not a great deal else in terms of scenery object or airport enhancements. That said, the imagery is well sourced and just looks right in terms of coloration and contrast (from the eye of a SoCal native), and the autogen is plentiful and reasonably accurate, both trees and buildings.
Also comes with built in night lighting and textures.Fr-amerate on my mid-to-high-ran-ge PC isn't terrible when flying around, at least in P3D v4; on approach to LatinVFR KSAN or FSDreamteam KLAX in the PMDG NGX, I see generally 15-20 fps, and pretty consistent 30+ flying over most other areas in the region.Blen-d-masking with the surrounding terrain is reasonable. There are definitely places you'll see the border where it meets default terrain (not least because the border is 3 very long straight lines and the Pacific), but the transition isn't totally abrupt at least. One other note: this scenery is gigantic (right around 40 GB installed), and if loading from an HDD the loading times will be quite long. Definitely put this on an SSD if you can.4.5/5.
Just installed CLS (on a Just Flight CD-ROM). She's a beauty, sounds great, and flies well. MUCH simpler than a lot of other commercial add-on airliners but y'know what? At this point, I have such little time to learn anything new in MSFS that she suits me fine.
A simplified McDoo unit, works with default MSFS everything, can use the GoFlight MCP (even though I really shouldn't because of the push-pull AP on the 'bus), and accept flightplans I build in FSNav and FS9. VC looks very nice. A zillion liveries and two models, the -500 and -600. So far, so good. She's my kinda gal and I'm glad I got her!JS.
